It doesn’t seem like its been 3 years since their self-titled debut in 2008 – probably because it still sounds so fresh but also the sheer amount of remixes continues to keep those tracks alive (I’m pretty sure Friendly Fires are the most remixable band around). The tracks are consistently brilliant. They create a wall of energy and gloss, incorporating layer after layer of percussion, lush trance-like synth, and powerful vocals.The step up from the debut album is clear not just through the high budget production. The disco and euphoric feel, as well as the use of percussion, guide Friendly Fires in the right direction. This record is full of top quality well written songs.
